Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · March 2026
Overview
swik (swik.io) is operated as a research and data platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We collect the minimum data needed to operate the Service. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
Data we collect
- Account data — username and email address when you register. Email is stored privately and never displayed publicly.
- API usage logs — request timestamps, endpoints called, response codes, and the text submitted for analysis. Logs are retained for operational and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Contribution data — labels, inversion votes, and annotations you submit. These become part of the open catalog (CC BY 4.0) under your chosen handle.
- Usage analytics — page views and session data via Umami (self-hosted, privacy-first, no cross-site tracking, no cookies).
- EULA acceptance — version accepted and timestamp, stored against your account.
How we use your data
- To operate and improve the Service
- To enforce the Terms of Service and prevent abuse
- To develop and fine-tune machine learning models (aggregated or anonymised form only)
- To contact you about material changes to terms (registered users only)
Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. API logs are retained for up to 12 months. Contribution data incorporated into the open catalog is retained indefinitely (it is public and irrevocable under CC BY 4.0).
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your account and associated personal data (note: contributions already in the open catalog cannot be removed)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability — request a copy of your data in machine-readable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact: legal@swik.io
Third parties
- Anthropic — text submitted via the API is processed by Anthropic's Claude models for inference. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing.
- GitHub / HuggingFace — the open catalog is published on these platforms. No personal data is included in catalog exports.
- Postmark — used to send transactional emails. Your email address is shared with Postmark only to deliver emails you've requested.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. swik's data processing is subject to GDPR.
